Overview:

The Hardware Reliability team is looking for an engineer with experience in mechanical,

electrical or mechatronic systems for vehicle sensor hardware weather testing ensuring

reliability in rain, fog, snow and other environmental conditions. Furthermore, you will need to be

able to develop new testing methods. To succeed in this role, you should possess knowledge of

sensor systems and vehicle testing.

As the Reliability Test Engineer, you will be expected to be a self-motivated individual adept at

handling multiple responsibilities, organizing workload effectively, and completing tests with

minimal oversight.

Pay Range - $48.00 - $58.00/ hour

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set up and install test equipment, instrumentation, and sensors.

  • Execute component and vehicle testing, including test planning, preparation, inspections, maintenance, and component modifications.

  • Review the test data and provide a thorough analysis of the results and summarize the findings.

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation, such as test procedures, best practices, and methodologies.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams, recording detailed test notes on issues, anomalies, and general test conditions.

  • Conduct root cause analysis and communicate or report issues through detailed verbal and written updates.

  • Establish and maintain test equipment including PLC controllers, water distribution and data acquisition system. Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues.

  • Develop new test methods and advance existing test facilities.

  • Maintain Transdev’s high standard of safety, inside and outside of the vehicle;

  • Consistently demonstrate situational awareness, an understanding of the technology in his/her care, and a willingness to constantly adjust to changes in the environment;

  • All other duties as assigned

Required Education and Experience:

  • 3+ years of experience as test, controls, sensors, or systems engineer.

  • Ability to independently perform test set-ups, operate and adjust test equipment on the vehicle.

  • Experience troubleshooting mechanical and electrical systems with a variety of hand, power, diagnostic, and debugging tools.

  • Ability to read and understand test procedures, technical documents, and schematics to identify and prep test equipment including electrical set-ups.

  • Knowledge of data measurement system and instrumentation - ex. PLC, signal conditioners, disdrometer, visibility sensor, thermocouples, strain gauges, etc.

  • Must have a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.

  • Must be 21 years old

  • Bachelor’s degree in automotive engineer, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, mechatronics engineering, or a related field of experience

  • Background in metrology or environmental-related sensor testing

  • Basic Fabrication and hand tool skills

  • Familiarity with basic Linux and Python syntax

  • Must have good attention to detail and be able to quickly and concisely describe their thoughts;

  • Capable of responding quickly and simultaneously to multiple scenarios;

  • Adapt quickly to new and developing technology;

  • Cross-functional verbal and written communication and issue escalation;

  • Must be able to multitask multiple technologies, including communications devices and vehicle status systems

  • Must be able to work specific shifts, including early mornings, evenings, and/or weekends.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; and

  • Must be self-motivated and demonstrate good judgment, in fast-paced, high stress environments.

Physical Requirements:

  • Occasional standing, walking, and sitting.

  • Long periods of sitting.

  • Use hands to finger; handle or feel; and talk or hear; climb stairs and/or ladders.

  • Occasionally required to reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

  • Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

  • Must use close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

  • Most work is accomplished outdoors in a vehicle.

Pre-Employment Requirements:

  • All Transdev employees must satisfactorily complete a pre-employment drug screen and background check. Safety Sensitive Positions will also be subject to a physical screening
