USC Health Sciences Advancement is seeking a Director of Development, Leadership Annual Giving. The Director will report directly to the Sr. Director of Medical Annual Giving. The Director is responsible for qualifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding donors and prospects capable of making leadership annual gifts to the Keck medical enterprise. The Director’s goal will be to retain and increase the number of leadership annual giving donors, while also building the pipeline to major gift programs. The Director will work collaboratively with colleagues across the USC Health Sciences Advancement (HSA) team to develop or leverage existing programs that will cultivate the interest and involvement of donors and prospects.

Essential job duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Manages, plans, organizes and conducts fundraising supporting the Health Giving Circle.

  • Identifies problem areas or need for changes and provides recommendations for modifications or adjustments for assigned programs and projects.

  • Plans and coordinates activities of volunteer and support groups. Recruits members and provides guidance and support to leadership activities.

  • Cultivates and maintains relationships with donors and volunteers.

  • Drafts gift or proposals for review or provides recommendations and assistance to proposal writers.

  • Establishes and maintains donor records and accounts.

  • Conducts research for the purpose of updating and expanding the donor base.

  • Drafts informational and marketing materials for review for assigned programs.

  • Assists in developing support materials for specific fundraising activities.

  • May lead staff, volunteers, temporary and/or resource workers, as required. Plans and forms support and volunteer groups. Provides leadership, work guidance and/or training. Schedules, assigns and prioritizes workloads, as needed. Sets appropriate deadlines. Ensures timely completion of work.

  • Interacts with other university departments, as required.

  • Plans, organizes and coordinates special events and activities focused around the Health Giving Circle program.

  • Attends professional meetings and seminars to enhance professional competence.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested. The University reserves the right to add or change duties at any time.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or combined experience/education as substitute for minimum education.

  • 5 years of experience (or combined experience/education).

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of related experience. Relevant education or related experience as substitute. Experience in a complex medical or academic development setting encouraged.

  • Strong understanding of the issues, nuances and needs of research, teaching and clinical operations in a complex health sciences research and/or university environment.

  • Excellent written and verbal skills

The annual base salary range for this position is $105,000 to $130,000. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.
