Weston County Health Services Pharmacist - Hospital in Newcastle, Wyoming

[The Pharmacist will dispense drugs prescribed by physicians and other health practitioners and provide information to patients about medications and their use. The Pharmacist may advise physicians and other health practitioners on the selection, dosage, interactions, and side effects of medications.

Supervisory Responsibilities:]{arial=""}

  • Manages pharmacy operations, overseeing pharmacy technicians in compounding and dispensing medications and pharmaceutical supplies upon receiving prescriptions from physicians or other health practitioners.

  • Promotes the mission, vision, and values of Weston County Health Services (WCHS).
  • Maintainknowledge of changes to state and federal law affecting Pharmacy.
  • Maintain CMS rules and regulations for Critical Access Hospitals and Long-Term Care.
  • Assist in the process for monitoring psychotropic medication use in the nursing home and implements and carries out plans of action.
  • Performs chart review in the first (7) days and monthly thereafter, for long-term care and swing bed patients.
  • Develop processes for charge review, to ensure proper charging and use of J-codes to eliminate fraud.
  • Assist with the bedside medication verification process
  • Assist with the adverse drug reaction reporting process.
  • Assist with medication reconciliation process.
  • Maintain required pharmacist competency and continuing education.
  • Assist as needed with the 340b pro-brand and ensures that it is meeting strict regulatory guidelines.
  • Assist HIM with billing and charges as needed.
  • Assist with the narcotic count.
  • Review and maintain contract with Medicare Part D Companies.
  • Serve as reference for medical nursing staff.
  • Serve as reference for hospital administration.
  • Assist with adequate pharmacy medication, and ensure medication is stocked appropriately.
  • Participate in the annual pharmacy inventory at the end of each fiscal year.
