Sheridan Memorial Hospital has entered into a management agreement with Green House Living for Sheridan to run day-to-day operations. If selected for hire, you will be employed by Sheridan Memorial Hospital.

JOB SUMMARY

As an activities director at Green House Living (GHL) your primary responsibility is to enhance the quality of life for residents by organizing and facilitating engaging and stimulating recreational and social activities. The activities director embraces the philosophy of long-term care culture while working with elders and Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA) to provide opportunities for elders to enjoy the highest possible quality of life through meaningful activity.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Creating a diverse calendar of events and activities tailored to the interests and abilities of residents, considering factors such as age, health conditions, and preferences.

  • Collaborating with staff, residents, and families to ensure activities are well-attended and meet the needs and desires of the community.

  • Overseeing the execution of scheduled activities, which may include games, crafts, outings, exercise classes, performances, and educational programs.

  • Encouraging residents to participate in activities, fostering a sense of community, and promoting social interaction and emotional well-being.

  • Assessing the effectiveness of activities through resident feedback, observation, and outcome measures, and making adjustments as needed to continually improve the program.

  • Ensuring activities comply with regulatory standards and safety protocols, including infection control measures and accessibility accommodations.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Education / Experience / License and Certifications

  • Minimum of High School Diploma or GED equivalency, required.

  • Certified nurse assistant license preferred.

  • Activities Director Certification (ADC), required or ability to become certified and maintain certification.

  • Two years of experience in a social, recreation or relevant program development and/or oversight, preferred.

  • Familiarity with or the ability to learn Medicare/Medicaid rules and regulations.

Additional Skills

  • Be creative and innovative in the development of activities that maintain or improve physical and cognitive abilities and enjoy working with elders.

  • Be able to stand, squat, kneel, push, pull and lift 30 lbs.

  • Be able to interact with elders, elderly families and co-workers in a friendly and professional manner.

  • Ability to effectively communicate in English, both in reading and writing.

  • Computer knowledge.

    Specific demands not listed: Possible exposure to blood and or body fluids / infectious disease / hazardous waste requiring the use of Personal Protective Equipment. Exposure to odorous chemicals / specimens and Latex products.
