JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Join our dynamic team committed to advancing scientific knowledge in the field of cryo-electron microscopy (cryoEM). We are dedicated to pushing the boundaries of scientific discovery through innovative technologies and methodologies. As we expand our capabilities, we are seeking a talented Flask Developer and CryoEM Data processing internship to join us in our mission. Position Overview: We are looking for a developer internship to help build a Flask-based website that will streamline the process of collecting sample metadata for cryoEM experiments. In addition to website development, this role involves training users on how to process cryoEM datasets effectively. Responsibilities: Website Development: Design and develop a user-friendly Flask website for generating sample data collection forms. Implement secure authentication and authorization mechanisms. Ensure smooth integration with existing cryoEM data management systems. Optimize website performance and user experience. CryoEM Dataset Training: Conduct training sessions and workshops on cryoEM dataset processing techniques. Provide ongoing support and guidance to users, addressing any questions or issues that arise. Stay updated on the latest advancements in cryoEM methodologies and tools. Collaboration: Collaborate with researchers and scientists to understand their requirements and feedback. Work closely with the IT team to deploy and maintain the website infrastructure. Collaborate with other developers and stakeholders to ensure alignment with project goals and timelines. Qualifications: Proficiency in Python and Flask web development. Strong understanding of web development fundamentals such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Experience with database management systems, particularly PostgreSQL. Familiarity with cryo-electron microscopy principles and data processing workflows is highly desirable. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively train and support users from diverse scientific backgrounds. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced research environment. Education and Experience: Student in a Bachelor's of Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. Prior experience in web development and/or cryoEM research is advantageous but not required. Location: This position is based at our University Park campus, with the possibility of remote work depending on project requirements.
